RCZI, a Knowledge Partner at GB Pant University’s One Health Conference

Coinciding with the World Veterinarians’ Day, the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology College, Uttarakhand, organised a National Symposium on, “One Health Initiative to Foster Intersectoral Collaboration for Human and Animal Health” from April 26th - 28th. The symposium provided a platform for health professionals, social scientists and students of veterinary science to interact and share their experience on One Health.

RCZI had a strong presence at the event. Dr. Manish Kakkar presented a Roadmap for Prevention and Control of Zoonoses in India. Dr. Jessy Joseph provided an overview of the Research Capacity Building Initiative (RCBP) against the larger backdrop of work being done in India and Dr. Pranab Chatterjee outlined ways in which the Communication Platform could be leveraged to establish better understanding of the human-animal-environment interface in peri urban settings across India.

The RCZI team also participated in a multisectoral Round Table discussion on, the “Identification of Policies and Strategies to Bolster One Health Initiatives in the Indian Context”. The discussion comprised of experts from human, animal and environmental health.

During the two days, the RCZI team had an opportunity to engage with students from the University’s agriculture and veterinary streams.
